Public Service Commission (PSC’s) are the premier commission of the government of India or State, for organizing recruitment exams, procedures for recruiting employees, officers to various departments of the government.

Recruitment’s are done based on competitive examination conducted by various PSC’s.

UPSC & PSC Selection Criteria

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and State Public Service Commissions are two statutory bodies established pursuant to Article 315 of the Constitution of India. The following four categories of candidates have been notified by UPSC for government jobs:

  1. Competitive Examination
  2. Direct Recruitment by Selection
  3. Promotion and Deputation
  4. Induction into All India Services (IAS, IPS and IFoS)

UPSC selects candidates in compliance with the relevant rules and guidelines of the Government. As in most cases, there are very large numbers of candidates against limited vacancies, and some of the non-appointed candidates go to court with their grievances to be resolved. With regards to the public service commissions, the central government has no centralized records.
